The African Futures Institute maintains close ties with partners of the former African Futures project, namely African countries and several partners in development including:

UNDP, ADB, the World Bank, The Netherlands, The United Kingdom, Japan, France, Canada, Norway.

Since its inception, AFI has embarked upon broadening its circle of partners through stronger linkages with the African Union, its flagship program NEPAD, Regional Economic Communities, the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF), the African private sector and Civil Society Organizations (farmers associations, non-governmental organizations, trade unions, etc.)

The European Union and some North American and European Foundations are also targeted.
